It's the Final Countdown.

There are less than 24 hours to go in the National Challenge Competition. Are we going to get a step on the podium or what?

I was in the gym last week and I found a home-burned CD that had fallen under the weight racks titled "Powur lifing Mix". Oh, this should be hilarious! I took it home and popped it in the player but I already knew what to expect. There was plenty of stuff from groups we haven't heard from in a loooong time like Winger, White Lion, Quiet Riot, but of course it ended with the grand-daddy of all power-posing anthems; "Final Countdown" by Europe. What is it with bodybuilders and this song anyway?

So do we need a final motivational song to push this contest over the edge? Will one more blast help you push an extra mile? Let's turn back the clock to the 1980's. Put on your acid wash bike jersey, tease up that hair, and crank those little computer speakers to "11".

(Someplace out there is a bodybuilder sad about his lost Winger tunes.)

Don't look back!

Keep you eyes on the finish line and don't lose time looking back over your shoulder. It's ugly back there. The line up is packed, legs are flying, elbows are bumping, and teeth are gnashing. They want your step on the podium Bunnies and if you let up even for a moment they'll take it. Don't think about it - Just RIDE!

Finishing sprint

We've passed under the final 1k "flamme rouge" banner and the teams are jostling for position for the last sprint. Take a look around you Bunnies. The other teams are ready to take advantage of a slight pause so they can jump ahead and knock us off the podium. Get ready to sprint in 3...2...1...

Bad Bunnies of the North

These bunnies braved the frozen streets yesterday at the Frostbite Footrace. The Bad Bunnies of the North represented by all three rabbit teams took home first place in the costume contest.

Ice Ice Baby

Have you been outside? Ugh! This freeze-thaw cycle has left the city paths good for nothing but skating. There's about two inches of solid ice everywhere. Even with spikes on your paws the running will be sketchy at best. Some of the trails and fields with packed snow are OK but rough and crunchy in places.

There are also a lot of those big brown things on stilts hanging around. They've been eating nothing but twigs all winter so they're kind of slow and cranky. Dude, you seriously need some carbs to help that attitude. Just wait till Spring when you can eat fresh new grass and leaves.

This might be a good week to get your running miles done on a track or treadmill. If you do venture outside then tell us what you put on your paws in our newest poll.

Not too cold for the Bunnies

The latest poll shows the Snowshoe Bunnies have no problem with the cold. Except for one result (perhaps a Bunny returning from vacation or a San Diego member?), you don't even get goosebumps until the mercury falls to 10f.

So you must be feeling really warm now with the Chinook wind that blew in, raised the temps into the 40s, and melted all the snow. Don't shed those winter coats for spots just yet. My friend the groundhog says there's more to go.

Do Peeps® float?

Bunny wasn't surprised to see Peeps® on the snack table at the third River Swim yesterday. So how did those laps work out for you? Do you know all the corners and turns by now or should we ask the H2Oasis folks to tile a black lane line down the center of the river? More swims are scheduled so you can get the practice you need. Oh, and keep the Peeps® out of the pool.

Peeps® Run at the Dome

If you made it to the run then you know how this event got its name. Yup, it was all about the candy. I didn't think we would see the marshmallow goodies this early in the season but Beaker showed up with a whole case.

I went to the Peeps® website and read this fun fact:

"Over 70 million Peeps® chicks lined up beak-to-tail are needed to reach from New York to Los Angeles."

I suspect Beaker might have enough cases stashed in her garage to pull off such a feat.

If Peeps® weren't enough for you then there were all sorts of other goodies including the hand-dipped chocolate covered gummy bears that Peter brought. Gotta' love those quick carbs.

How cold is too cold?

It's never too cold for Snowshoe Hares.

The temp was about -10f when we left the parking lot near Hilltop.

There may have been more dogs than people in our group. Hilltop Ski area was empty. Whasamatter Kids? Too cold to ski?

We could have taken the chairlift to get up here. Hill practice is done for this week.

He tried to say something but the words came out frozen.

Great views all the way to Denali.

So how cold is too cold for you? Let us know in the new poll below.

Running from the Sun??

This Bun Bun still hasn't figure out why anyone would run away from the Sun, espeically on a day when the high temp was 5 degrees, but alas I saw many of you hoppers out on the trail to Pluto! Most impressive, truly impressive.

Run!

To paraphrase Pre, "Somebody's may beat us, but they are going to have to bleed to do it."

Wanna be a Track Star

Now how was the First Annual Bunny Run at the Dome for a change? Was it better than YakTrax on frozen trails? Was it better than the endless whir of a treadmill? Was it a welcome relief from the bike trainer? Without a doubt.

The bouncy running surface, yummy snacks, and ample opportunities for socialization made the laps just fly by. How many of you logged more miles than you thought you would?

- About midway through the session Jens tried to switch the running direction. Not many Bunnies followed. There must have been too many memories of fighting the current when we switched direction at H20asis.

- In more track-tactics, Bunny saw Jens box-in Jason behind a group of runners. This kind of thing never happens on the running trails.

- Bunny overheard one rabbit mentioning she had already run 10 miles earlier in the day and was going to run another 5. Way to pack in the miles!

- You're already a winner! A new club trophy was on display awarding us for our participation.

- Lots of Bunnies took home door prizes including bottles, bags, and all sorts of cool stuff.

- Winter Soccer League looks pretty serious. Bunny saw some amazing plays and moves. Work on your Bicycle Kick before you take to the field.
